The Department of Commerce is one of the most prestigious department of Shia P.G. College, which was established in 1972 and was headed by Mr. Syed Baqar Raza a renowned educationist and a dedicated teacher. Initially the department started its services with only two teachers; later on, in 1975 the department started availing government aid and the total teaching positions were raised to six in just three years of its establishment. In 1980 and 1984 three posts simultaneously created for teaching faculty, in 1987 three more post were created by the U.P. government, when the degree course was upgraded to three years and in 1992 one more post was created, which resulted to sixteen teaching posts, as total.
After 24 years of devoted services, the college was permitted to establish girl’s section also in 1996 and later on, got affiliation for M.Com (Applied Economics) in 2005, M.Com (Pure Commerce) and BBA (International Business) in 2006 and thus the department was converted into a Faculty after a long waiting period of around three decades. At present, the Department of Commerce is headed by Prof. (Dr.) Anjum Abrar and who is also the Incharge of the Faculty of commerce. Due to dedication of its faculty members and the
pleasing environment of the department, the students have shown their keen
interest in enrolling themselves in different courses and fortunately all the
seats occupied within stipulated time. The milestone of the department in the
field of research was achieved by the faculty members, when they were permitted
to supervise the research scholars in the year 2016.
