Presently the department of Physics is running B.Sc. Course with three streams i.e. B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Maths), B.Sc. (Physics, Statistics, Maths) and B.Sc. (Physics, Computer Science, Maths).
The Physics department in Shia P.G. College was established in 1947 under the headship of Dr.S.N.Singh and first batch of B.Sc. Ist year (PCM) got admitted. Later on Dr. R.C. Srivastava & Dr.T.P.Pandaya both joined Deptt. of Physics Lucknow University Lucknow, gave their kind services to the department.Next Dr.R.C.Pandey gave the servicers as Head. In 1966 Dr. S.I.
