Museums
The departments of Zoology, Botany and Anthropology have their separate museums which possess rich collection of items related to the respective subjects. The museum of the department of Zoology deserves a special mention for its truly remarkable richness which has made this a special attraction for visitors to the college campus. This museum has been developed over years with valuable contributions from the teachers as well as students who have been bringing precious specimens from their educational tour to coastal cities. Besides museum specimens of preserved animals, there is a very rich collection of models depicting various biological processes such as embryonic development, cell division and genetics. Anthropology museum has skeletons and bones of primate ancestors of man so as to give the students an intuitive understanding of organic evolution which is one of the greatest unifying concepts in all science and is the basis of physical anthropology. Besides this, the Anthropology museum is also having a good collection of items related to the customs of various ethnic tribes which is helpful in understanding social anthropology. The staff and students go on annual excursions to collect items worth displaying in their museum.
