Botanical Garden
The study of plant taxonomy aquaints students with enormous diversity of the plant kingdom which is best understood when they see the plants in their natural habitats or in places where they are grown under controlled conditions. Botanical Garden of our college aims to achieve the same objective by maintaining a very good collection of plants that captures an impressive biodiversity of flora and comprises of plants of aesthetic value as well as those having medicinal significance. Maple trees, Cycas spp, Pinus roxburghii, Euphorbia, Nyctanthes, Oleander, Tecoma, bottle palm, fishtail palm, Polyalthia, Mangifera indica, Azadirachta indica are some of the notable plants found in the Botanical Garden. Medicinal plants such as Aloe vera, Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi), and Bahunia spp, are present along with ornamental plants like Catharanthus roseus (periwinkle) and Hibiscus rosa sinensis. Besides, there are some economically important plants such as Santanum alba (Sandal wood), Morus alba and Ficus (Banyan tree). There is a pond inside the Botanical Garden which has a rich growth of lotus plants and algae.The curation of the Botanical Garden is done under the supervision of faculty members from the Botany department who take every care to improve the usefulness of this important facility for students.
